Dr. David L. Bortz
Medical Director

Dr. David Bortz has been a board certified, well-respected, qualified physician since 1975.  He is board certified in both the USA and South Africa, graduating with honors in both countries.  He received the Physician Recognition Award in 1989 and 1992.  In addition to his private practice, Dr. Bortz is an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and Medical Director of San Diego Center for Hyperbaric Therapy. Dr. Bortz has accreditations with the General Medical Council of England, Fellow American College of Physician’s, California Medical Association, and Scripps Memorial Hospital, La Jolla, San Diego.

Richard Sprunger
Lead Technician

As a Navy S.E.A.L. Richard specialized as a Combat Medic over a period of ten years. He served an additional 5 years as an instructor to Navy S.E.A.L. trainees, with a major focus on underwater medicine and hyperbaric chamber therapy.  For the past 5 years since leaving the military, Richard has served the community of San Diego as a Paramedic / Firefighter.  We are proud to have Richard as a part of our team here and feel confident in his abilities and professionalism.  You will be in very good hands with Richard!

 

Jennifer Dorner
CEO/Pulmonary Practitioner

Jennifer has over 15 years of experience in the field of Pulmonary, having worked in most of the major hospitals in San Diego.  She holds a current license as a Pulmonary Care Practitioner and has worked with many different types of illnesses and injuries. Jennifer has worked in high-risk deliveries, neonatal intensive care, pediatrics, adult intensive care and special procedures.  She also has experience working in the emergency room and is very knowledgeable about caring for adults as well as children.  She is well respected in the field of medicine.

 

Kraig Dorner
CFO/CHT/Safety Operator

Kraig has 18 years of diving experience in pure oxygen diving and also trains and teaches these specialized techniques.  He is a Certified Hyperbaric Technician (CHT) and is the Safety Director for the Center.  He holds a current Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) dive master license.  He has been working with hyperbarics since he started diving.
