AUTISM

My 8-year-old autistic son and I (because he wouldn't go in alone) completed 40 sessions when the center first opened.  I can’t say enough about the facility and wonderful staff.  Jennifer and Kraig did everything they could to make the experience a positive one for both of us. 

My son looked forward to seeing everyone at the center and going into the “rocket ship” each day.  I was so impressed by their “hospital” standards for safety and cleanliness that I had no concerns in these areas.

While it is always difficult to pinpoint the exact cause and effect relationship associated to specific therapies, we have seen rapid developmental gains in many areas since completing the sessions. 

We've seen the following changes:
-New desire to interact and play with neighbor kids, ride his quad,   bicycle...
-Reduced sensitivity to sound (barking dogs and babies crying)
-Nice increase in language (3-5 word sentences to 7-8) and sharing   thoughts
-Huge improvement in soccer experience/participation from last year to this   year
-Learning faster and focusing better at school (reading 14 new words in the   first 3 months of school while reading only a total of 6 words last year.)

Whatever the reason, we’ll take the gains and are so happy we tried HBOT at SDC4HBOT!

My daughter is 5 years old and is mildly mentally retarded with behaviors on the autism spectrum. She was deprived of oxygen at birth. The umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck and "one minute" was called out after her birth because she was not breathing. Through the years she has been delayed in meeting her milestones, has been very frustrated, has many daily (if not hourly) temper tantrums. Since her hyperbaric treatments she has become much less frustrated, having next to zero tantrums and is much, much more cooperative. She is easier to re-direct; her vocabulary has increased; and her speech is clearer. She seems to have an overall sense of herself that is evident...where it was not in the past. I feel her new awareness has also helped to be able to potty train overnight, which also happened during her treatments. We began with 20 treatments and saw such improvement we decided to continue to 40. The oxygen into her system just makes sense.

Each member of the staff at the San Diego Center for Hyperbaric Therapy has been absolutely wonderful to my daughter. I would not have ever thought my daughter would get into the chamber. The staff was encouraging, kind and exceptionally good with kids. I was extremely impressed. The experience was so positive everyday that my daughter looked forward to the treatments. I would also like to mention that the facility is very clean and superbly maintained which is also important me.  

Her improved behavior has created a better home life for our entire family. We are truly grateful to the staff and thankful to them for bringing the availability of the hyperbaric chamber to us.
